Having grown up enjoying the family’s delicious homemade Cucumber Relish, chef Emma Macdonald had the simple idea that full flavoured quality chutneys and preserves needed to be brought to the speciality sector.

Since 1994, we have been creating and producing award winning & artisan chutneys, preserves and sauces.
Modern Production Facilities
We have grown significantly since 1994, but we still cook in small batches at our BRC accredited production facility in Devon.

The Bay Tree is an established and trusted fine foods brand with a range of over 100 chutneys, pickles, jellies, sauces, dressings and preserves.
Food Service
The Bay Tree's consistent and versatile products deliver the quality demanded by chefs. Many of our best selling lines are available in multiple sizes from single serve to 3kg catering tubs.
Own Label Options
As a small batch producer we are able to also provide own-label products & bespoke recipe solutions to suit your business needs.
Our early days were humble, with Emma lovingly creating batches of Aga dried tomatoes and Cucumber Relish in her mother’s kitchen. Within days of launching Fortnum & Mason and Harvey Nichols were keen to place orders and the kitchen was quickly outgrown. Emma moved The Bay Tree to our first manufacturing unit, where she continued developing new ranges and exploring new flavour profiles. Today, we have over 150 mouth-watering products for you to try.
We have been in our current manufacturing home since 2012, after we outgrew the last premises.

Right from the very start, we have married traditional cooking methods with innovative flavours. We have a passion for tradition but our inherent sense of adventure continues to push us, to fully explore many conceivable flavours - only ever bringing you something that we are truly proud of. These values are still central to our philosophy today; we call it making the ordinary extraordinary.
Emma has now written two cookery books, Home Deli Recipes and Preserving to share her deep, deep love of food with home cooks worldwide.
We believe that taste is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Quite simply, food that tastes great makes life feel better. Our goal is simple - to make the wonder of nature’s finest flavours a part of everyday life.
